ABOUT MI-EYE® IMAGING
Mi-Eye® Imaging is a diagnostic exam performed in the comfort of our office that allows for high-definition visualization of the inside of the joint. This gives Dr. Savarino immediate insight into the root cause of your discomfort. The exam utilizes a tiny needle camera scope, requires only local anesthesia and takes about 10 minutes. We can also administer treatment such as steroid (also known as cortisone) and regenerative treatments through Mi-Eye® as well.
Historically the MRI has been the go-to non-surgical diagnostic tool, but MRIs can be expensive and inconclusive. Usually after surgery an MRI always looks abnormal. In cases where MRI was not an option (pacemaker, implants, claustrophobia, obesity), surgical diagnostic arthroscopy used to be the only alternative. VSI offers a non-surgical diagnostic tool that is accurate, effective and fits easily into our patients’ busy schedules and lifestyles.

- Consultation during the VSI exam appointment
Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING A VSI EXAM?
Dr. Savarino performs the VSI exam in an office exam room. Your joint will be cleaned and sterilized with an alcohol pad and iodine swab and then numbed with a local anesthetic. During the exam images and video can be taken to immediately show you the results and allow you to discuss treatment options.
WHAT WILL I FEEL IN A VSI EXAM?
You will not feel any pain or discomfort during a typical exam. Some patients occasionally feel a slight pressure during the exam and some feel mild soreness the next day.
WILL I NEED STITCHES?
No, just some very small bandage strips and a standard band-aid.
CAN I DRIVE HOME AFTER?
VSI requires only a local anesthetic, so you will be able to walk and drive after the procedure.
WILL I NEED TO MISS WORK FOR THIS PROCEDURE?
VSI is a minimally-invasive procedure and should not cause you to miss work. You are able to walk and drive immediately following the exam and should be able to carry on with your normal course of business.
