Stem Cells

What are Stem Cells?

Stem cells are the body’s base materials for building and repair. We all started as a cell and those cells divided and subdivided until we became a living being.

What Do Stem Cells Treat?

Because stem cells carry out various functions related to building and repair when it comes to healing injury or disease, stem cells provide the very backbone of support to help with rejuvenation and regeneration.

How Do Stem Cells Work:

Stem cells can be used to regenerate and repair diseased or damaged tissues in people.

Who could benefit from the use of Stem Cells?

People who might benefit from stem cell therapies include those with spinal cord injuries, type 1 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, stroke, burns, cancer, and osteoarthritis.

What are the types of Stem Cells:

All Mesenchymal Stem Cell (MSC) biologics carried by Dallas Regenerative Center are obtained from donated, full-term, and live birth pregnancies. Donors go through a comprehensive screening process and are tested in accordance with standards established by FDA requirements to minimize risks of disease transmission to recipients.

Structural Wharton’s Jelly:

Wharton’s jelly is a gelatinous substance in the umbilical cord that provides cushioning and support to the umbilical vein and arteries. The cushioning and protective elements from Wharton’s jelly consist of a network of structural proteins, pericytes, mesenchymal stem cells, cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors. Hyaluronic acid is the most abundant component of the glycosaminoglycans found in the umbilical cord matrix. Hyaluronic acid is also a key factor in the viscoelastic properties in the synovial fluid of joints.

Cord Blood:

Cord blood” refers to blood from the umbilical cord and placenta. Usually, the cord is traditionally discarded after birth. Compared to bone marrow, cord blood cells are “immature”, which means they haven’t been exposed to a disease. Stem cells in the umbilical cord are different from bone marrow stems cells, which have been the treatment standard for stem cell therapies. The cells in cord blood include hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPC) and hematopoietic stem cells (HSC), which are also found in the bone marrow and peripheral blood.
